Synopsis

A frustrated artist discovers the story of the candyman, which he first uses as inspiration for his drawings, but unfortunately, he begins to lose his sanity and unleashes a wave of violence, Leading him to confront his destiny.

Production

In September of 2018, it was announced that Jordan Peel was in converse to make a sequel to the 1992 film through his Mankipau production. In a 2018 interview with Film Street’s Night Meme, Todd said, “I’d rather do it, someone with intelligence, who’s going to think, and scrutinize the whole racial makeup of who the Candyman is and why he existed in the first place.” In November 2018, it was confirmed that Peel would be co-producing the film with Universal and MGM, and co-producing the film in partnership with Win Rosenfeld, while Nia Dacosta, on the other hand, signed on as director. The film will serve as a “spiritual sequel,” returning to Cabrini Green, the new gentleman, where once was the old development of housing projects in Chicago. Filming was due to begin in spring 2019.

In January 2019, FX Atlanta’s Lakith Stanfield and Sad to Tell You fame will probably star in the film but not as the main title character, Rather as an ancient version of Anthony McCoy, now a visual artist eager to explore the legend of the Candyman, similar to the character of Helen Lyle, played by Virginia Madsen. There was no word on who would be acting in the film and Todd or any of the past actors would reprise their roles. However, in a meeting with Entertainment Weekly, Todd Peel said: “I know he is a fan … I am hopeful that I will appear in the film in some form or fashion. Does that make any sense? But it’s Hollywood, so for some reason if it doesn’t work out, I personally wouldn’t take it ” I think the issue is more important than anyone. And I mean, this is “Yahya Abdul-Matin II, who was in talks to play McCoy on February 2019, Incorrect reports have been made that the title character is in discussion to portray the character. In response to this news, Todd said of his blessing on Twitter: “Cheers to Candyman, I am a great character who has lived for 25 years. She brings grace and glory and a beautiful boatload of friends and family, I am honored that the spirit of Daniel Robitaille & Cabrini Green has grown again. The truth of power! Blessings for the cast and crew. ”But it was finally announced that Todd would reprise his role.

Candyman Film’s primary Photography began in early August 2019 and was involved in the city of Chicago with September 2019 (25-27), with a few filming taking place in North Park neighborhood in September. The working title of the Candyman film was transpired on some of the cast and crew social media pages as Say My Name which was discreetly used in the revised production sets and scripts to keep things “flying under the radar”
